Instructions: Objective: The older adult population (65 and older) is the fastest growing aggregate of the population. Additionally life expectancy is projected to increase on average by 19 years (Lewis, 2017). It is more important than ever for nurses to be able to efficiently and effectively assess this population for the purpose of early identification and intervention for problems as well as to promote elderly independence, and optimal quality and quantity of life.
Guidelines:
Each student is to select a Well elder, 65 years or older to assess and develop a plan of care on.
- Introductory paragraph which includes demographic data about the person, how you know this person, why you selected them for the project, etc. Also include a description of the setting where the assessment occurred.
- Assessment of the Well Elder including:
A. Erikson’s stage or development supported with examples.
B. Ethnic, religious and cultural background.
C. Support systems
D. Medical History (you are not to perform a physical assessment)
