Hospital Acquired Infections that occur while the patient is receiving care. These infection are developed in the hospital or other healthcare facilities and will first appear within 48 hours or more after hospital admissions or within 30 days after having received healthcare (Haque et al., 2018). This section looks at the Patient Intervention Comparison, Outcome and Time (PICOT) question as applied in nursing research and evidence based practice. The project will focus on Hospital Acquired infection is one of the practice problem experience by nurses caring for patients in the long term care. The selected article looked at the relationship between hand hygiene to the hospital acquire infection where the paper shows how nurses need to use evidence based practice  when  it comes to professional communication to improve the nursing care practice (Haque et al., 2018). The paper also discussed the research PICOT question and the possible recommendations were made. The recommendations made from the study are also important are need to be recommended to the nursing practice as an intervention to solve the practice problem. Based on the proposed picot question, the study will also examine ways in which the findings will be integrated to the nursing practice and improve healthcare outcomes (Haque et al., 2018). The selected area of practice is long term care facilities where patients stay for long meaning that they are vulnerable to hospital infections, interrupting the intentions of getting well. Based on this background the proposed PICOT question will be: P ( Population) Among patients in long term care facilities, I ( Intervention) does the implementation of smart screening, C(comparison)  as opposed to washing hands (O) Outcomes reduce hospital acquired infections T(time) while the patients stays in hospital.
