Planned Parenthood: Recommendations and Solutions

Recommendations

Several recommendations can be made to solve the problems encountered in Planned Parenthood. The first recommendation is to build more centers and promote outreach initiatives globally to those in underserved areas. The other recommendation is to find ways to increase funding for family planning programs and develop more partnerships with advocates who will lead it positively. Similarly, Planned Parenthood needs to support health care service delivery and systems; expand access to health care services; education, advocacy, and increase engagement; and leadership in the reproductive justice movement (National Partnership, 2017).  

More importantly, Planned Parenthood can implement a crisis communication plan that will allow the organization to be prepared, stay decisive and be empathetic, engage with its supporters through social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Snap Chat, YouTube, Google+ media outlets together with print, and television commercials along with print and television, and stay connected by developing strong ties with allies and decision-makers willing to stand for what the organization wants to achieve (Ellis, 2018).  The other recommendation is to educate the public about Planned Parenthood’s purpose, mission, and vision constantly to allow the organization to educate the public about issues at hand effectively.  Again, maintaining its company website will also help mitigate the impact of negative information about Planned Parenthood.

Solution

Considering all courses of action and their effects, which directly affect Planned Parenthood, an effective solution is to have a good corporate culture and advocacy.  Corporate culture refers to a set of values, norms, rituals, formal rules, and physical artifacts that exist in an organization.  Corporate culture evolves as organizations cope with recurring stresses in their competitive environments.  Over time, the attitudes and behaviors that solve problems and bring successes are reinforced and become permanent parts of the culture (Berg, 2016).  Planned Parenthood must explicitly communicate to the public concerning why it exists.  Planned Parenthood must continue to set the agenda and create a bold vision of how, in partnership with the organization’s supporters, it will create a better future for women, men, and teens in the United States and worldwide. 

The organization also needs to support its Planned Parenthood health care centers and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund to keep its health care centers open and help fight Congress and the many political assaults (Planned Parenthood, 2018).  Planned Parenthood needs to create a cultural network that is made up of correspondents that may help it understand the emerging and established trends in communities all around the world. In addition to this, collaborations and partnerships with other organizations can be an important way to understand the areas where their assets and expertise would best support Planned Parenthood’s national reach and scale of its political challenges.
