Benchmarking and Dashboards
As a continuous process, benchmarking compares an organization’s performance to others in the industry, especially those performing better (Ledlow, Stephens, & Ledlow, 2018). The process’s primary objective is to determine how the best performing organizations are achieving their exceptional performance. The information obtained provides the basis for designing the benchmarking organization’s future strategies and objectives. Thus, benchmarking enhances a company’s competitiveness in the business environment because it compares the in-company methods, processes, or activities with other organizations (Erdil & Erbıyık, 2019; Lenet, 2018). The collected information acts as a reference point to review the organization’s current techniques against the successful company and implement the obtained data.
In the health care sector, benchmarking improves patient satisfaction, quality of care, efficiency, and patient safety. Some of the performance indicators used in my workplace include patients’ experience, readmission rates, care effectiveness, data transparency, mortality rates, patient safety, and the quality of care offered to the patient population. Healthcare analyst monitors these performance indicators. The analyst evaluates healthcare data from distinct sources to note areas for improvement, including business management, diagnosis, clinical data, and patient care quality. Ideally, benchmarking performance boosts my organization’s performance because it measures services and performance against the best organizations or class cases.
