Define and discuss Translational Research (TR)

When it comes to nursing practice, translation research usually looks at the process of applying knowledge from the basic clinical practice, tools, techniques which address the major medical needs. Translational research is not like applied sciences, it is often particularly designed to establish the right health outcomes (High & Kritchevsky, 2015). It will also entail working with a team of experts that are focussed on the translation of useful information from the different departments in the hospital like the laboratory or the physical therapists and hospitals (Kovach, 2019). Also, translation research provides the nurse with an opportunity to participate in nursing research and evidence-based practice. It looks at new forms of treatment that are yet to be discovered providing required information for approval of different treatment approaches which takes considerable time and resources (Kpnursing, 2020).

This is most important during the clinical trials, like a disease which is induced during a clinical trial where there is no reason for mimicking how a disease develops naturally, this includes being able to scale up from a trial group though a whole population which calls for changing potency and drug dosage unfavorably. Translation research will also work during comparative medicine which provides strength to clinical trials by naturally study diseases as they occur including multiple specimens (Johansson, 2015). The efforts are important as they encourage new therapies to patients which also speeds up new drug development. Also in translational research, health specialists, and scientists who study human diseases with engineers and community members, policymakers, pharmacists, and others (Kpnursing, 2020). Translation research also calls for multidisciplinary collaboration among clinical specialists, psychologists, educators, and medical enterprises.

2. Define and discuss Outcomes Research

Outcomes research usually bases focus on healthcare policies and interventions research. It will look at the results of healthcare effectiveness, safety, efficiency, equity, timeliness, and patient-centeredness, to ensure high-quality health systems. Outcomes research looks at a collection of knowledge translation, generation, and used (Kpnursing, 2020). The knowledge from the outcomes research will also lead to a direct implication to the medical practice, which can sharp a more informative nursing practice. Outcomes research also starts at the interface of clinical epidemiology, clinical medicine, and service delivery research in health services and public health and social sciences. Outcomes research also makes use of the basic statistics in science with public health, clinical, and policy orientation.

3. Compare and contrast Translational Research and Outcomes Research.

Translational research is very important in medical practice since it can influence the future of medical decisions. It is very important in nursing practice since it helps in the understanding of how patients respond to medication, the meaning of different medical interpretations which is very important in helping the nursing or the medical practitioner to make informed medical outcomes (Kovach, 2019).  For outcomes research, this will usually look at the results or the effects of a particular medical diagnosis or medical practice. It looks at the need for nursing practitioners to work closely with a medical researcher in understanding various conditions and how the different medical interventions are working for the client or not (Kpnursing, 2020).  Outcomes research is thus important and will often come after translation research, it seeks to define the reason various medical interventions work and why others do not work.  Nursing practitioners need to understand the reason for particular medical interventions and ways that they can contribute to these results.
