Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is to analyze types of trauma and evidence-based interventions for trauma treatment. 

This assignment supports the professional formation of the nurse practitioner role.

Course Outcomes

This assignment enables the student to meet the following course outcomes: 

  • CO 2: Formulate appropriate diagnoses and evidence-based treatment plans using psychosocial theory, psychotherapy and psychopharmacologic modalities for management of common mental health diagnoses based on the needs of the patient and family (POs 2, 5)  
  • CO 3: Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to improve the quality of mental health care (PO 5)  
  • CO 4: Apply ethical and legal principles to the healthcare needs and management of acutely ill psychiatric mental health patients across the lifespan (PO 5)

Due Date

The Psychotherapy for Trauma PowerPoint Presentation Assignment is due by Sunday 11:59 p.m. MT at the end of Week 7.  

The Late Assignment Policy applies to this assignment. Students are expected to submit assignments by the time they are due. Assignments submitted after the due date and time will receive a deduction of 10% of the total points possible for that assignment for each day the assignment is late. Assignments will be accepted, with penalty as described, up to a maximum of three days late, after which point a zero will be recorded for the assignment.

Select one type of trauma to discuss in the presentation from the list below or choose a type of trauma that is not listed with faculty approval. Topics include trauma related to one of the following:

Create a PowerPoint presentation and address the following requirements: 

  1. Use Microsoft PowerPoint to create the presentation. Submit the presentation as a .ppt or .pptx file to the Week 7 Dropbox.  
  2. The presentation should total 10-18 slides (excluding title and reference slides).
  3. Create slides that are professional in appearance and tone and balanced spatially including words and graphics.
